The great train wreck

I think it's becoming pretty evident that Obamacare is a train wreck.  Now we learn that the administration has decided to delay the implementation of a key part of the Act.  Businesses who employ more than 50 full time employees will now have another year before they are required to provide health care for their employees.  They want you to believe that it is because employers are complaining about the complexity of the law's reporting requirements.  I don't believe that is the case at all.

First, 2014 is a mid-term election year.  Once people start having to pay for their mandatory heath care, they aren't going to be too happy about it and I can see the Dems losing a lot of votes.  Apparently, so can they.  So let's delay it until elections are over, shall we?  Also, I believe employers are willing to buck up and pay the penalty rather than providing the coverage.  That will leave a lot of people uninsured, therefore they will be forced to purchase health care on their own through the government exchanges.  With many states not setting up insurance exchanges and expanding their Medicaid programs, this blows a big hole in Obamacare.  They weren't planning on this but this is what happens when you blindly pass unconstitutional laws.  Yes, the mandate requiring states to expand their Medicaid programs was ruled unconstitutional.

So, here's a question.  Why can Obama and his administration just arbitrarily delay a law? If we had a Republican president and he decided to delay the implementation of the law like this, do you think Democrats would just sit back quietly?  I don't think so.  So what makes them think they can just do this on their own without approval of Congress anyway?

Obamacare's success relies on healthy, young people to pay for the older, less healthy insured.  Pretty much like Social Security these days.  So, given the choice of paying $2400 a year for the cheapest government plan, that has the highest deductibles and co-pays, one could pay the penalty of $95 or so the first year and not purchase health care.  They just saved $2300!!   Going forward, you could just pay the penalty and if you do get seriously ill, you could then purchase heath insurance because you can no longer be denied because of a pre-existing condition!   Do you see what a ridiculous program this is?  This is what happens when you create a program that relies on some to pay for the others.

I can look forward to paying the "Cadillac tax" on my benefits in the future.  Starting in 2018, those of us with what is considered the very best employer provided benefits will be required to pay tax on any amount over a certain dollar threshold based on how many in our family.  This socialism crap has got to stop!

See you in a couple days for Photo Friday.
