Obama on Non-Criminal Illegal Aliens: We Don’t Want to Deport Them; 'We Want Them To Succeed’

(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama on Monday told a student who has received a deportation notice that he does not want to deport her -- he wants people like her to succeed.

The exchange happened during a town hall event sponsored by the Spanish-language television network Univision at a Washington, D.C., school.
A student, who appeared via Skype, asked: “My question for the president is, why [is the government] saying that deportations have stopped -- or the detention of many students like me, why is it that we are still receiving deportation letters like this one?”

Obama answered, “We have redesigned our enforcement practices under the law to make sure that we’re focusing primarily on criminals, and so our deportation of criminals are up about 70 percent. Our deportation of non-criminals are down, and that’s because we want to focus our resources on those folks who are destructive to the community.

Isn't entering this country illegally a crime?  If we're focusing our efforts on criminals, that should be all of them!

“And for a young person like that young woman that we just spoke to who’s going to school, doing all the right things, we want them to succeed," Obama said.

How do you know she's doing all of the right things?  There's lots odf kids who go to school and do bad things too.

"I have been such a strong proponent of the DREAM Act--why I reiterated during my State of the Union speech that we need to pass the DREAM Act," said Obama. “We came close in the December. It almost happened.”

In other words, we tried to put illegal aliens ahead of American students and give them priority when it comes to college placement, student aid, etc...  We will reward those who shouldn't be here in the first place.

The president later added, “America is a nation of laws, which means I, as the president, am obligated to enforce the law.”

So why aren't you trying to deport these people who have entered our country illegally (we have laws against that)?

After the president addressed the illegal-alien student’s question, the moderator of the event asked Obama, “Mr. President, my question will be as follows: With an executive order, could you be able to stop deportation of the students?”

Surprise!!!!, Surprise!!!!

Obama said, “There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates, would not conform with my appropriate role as president.”

"We do however choose to not enforce many of them because we are left wing bleeding heart liberals!

“That does not mean, though, that we can’t make decisions, for example, to emphasize enforcement on those who’ve engaged in criminal activity,” said Obama. “It also doesn’t mean that we can’t strongly advocate and propose legislation that would change the law in order to make it more fair, more just, and ultimately would help young people who are here and trying to do the right thing –and those talents we want to embrace in order to succeed as a country.”

Here we go again with the criminal activity thing!  Either you are legally here or illegally here.  If you are not legally here, you are a criminal.  What legislation is unfair, Obama?  You obviously want to reward criminal behavior and that is NOT the AMERICAN WAY!  Our country has been very successfulk without allowing criminals to become citizens.

The town hall took place at the Bell Multicultural High School in Washington, D.C. Attendees of the town hall included students and parents.

The DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act, which failed to pass during the lame-duck session of Congress in 2010, would have allowed young illegal immigrants who have been in the states for at least five years to acquire legal status if they pass background checks, attend college or serve in the military for at least two years.

AMNESTY!!!  HELLLOOOOOO!!!!!! 

The president also called for “comprehensive immigration reform” and added that the U.S. immigration system is broken.

The only thing broken about it is that the Feds are being told not to enforce our immigration laws. 

“We have to have secure borders, we have to make sure that businesses are not exploiting undocumented workers, but we have to have a pathway to citizenship for those who are just looking for a better life and contributing to our country and I’ll continue to fight for them,” said Obama.

Well, I finally agree with something he said, that we have to secure our borders.  Duh!  He's entirely wrong that a pathway to citizenship is needed.  There is a legal way to immigrate to the U.S.  We let in over 1 million legal immigrants each year.  We cannot take in everyone who would like to come here.  It is estimated that there are anywhere from 12 million to 20 million illegals in this country.  If they all had lined up at the Mexico / U.S. border and ran across to come here at the same time, wouldn't that be called an invasion?

It is time to change the 14th Ammendement and remove automatic birthright for those illegals dropping their anchor babies here.  That was not the intent of the 14th Ammendment.  Illegals are a drain on our society and State budgets would be in far better shape if the taxpayers weren't having tio support these cockroaches who are sponging off Americans.
